The President for the year from February 2008 to January 2009
Reverend Kenneth Reeves
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello all visitors to the website of the Irish Society of East Anglia founded in 1891 and still going strongly, providing a charitable and family based social forum for ex patriate Irish people and their families and friends.
My name is Kenneth Reeves, (known as Ken) and I was born in Dublin more years ago than I care to remember. My family and I moved to Norfolk in 1976 where I have worked as an Anglican parish priest in a variety of parishes in the Diocese of Norwich.
I count it a great honour and privilege to have been elected President for the second time since I became a member many years ago and I have served with many wonderful people over the years on the committee. I am also happy to follow in the footsteps of so many inspired presidents who have maintained all that the Society has stood for over its long history. One of the great joys is the membership of so many younger families and the committee and I hope to be able to continue to provide many of the exciting events which are the mainstay of our programme over the year. We hope to provide something for everyone and will continue with this formula as well as seeking new ways to meet the needs of our increasingly large membership. We will continue to hold on to the ideals of the founding fathers of being non political and non sectarian, and while we enjoy the craic we hope also to raise as much money as possible for next year's chosen charity which is the East of England's Children's Hospices, which depend entirely on charitable public support to continue the wonderful work they do in caring very sick young children and their families.
